You may need a seaman for 4 types of services:
- The cruise: The skipper will be in charge of the navigation, manoeuvres and safety on board, and will allow you to enjoy a cruise in complete serenity. A hostess will take care of the management of the boat, the stewardship, the cooking…
- Delivery: You can call on a professional skipper to take your boat to a shipyard / wintering area, to a new navigation area, or to its home port following a purchase.
- Coaching: The skipper can teach you the basics of sailing, help you get to grips with your boat following a purchase, or help you improve your skills.
- Support : You can call on a skipper to support you during your navigation. This person will have a "support" role and you will remain the leader on board.
The price of a service depends on the type of mission carried out by a seaman, the category of navigation and his role on board.
Capt'n Boat recommends a remuneration according to the market standards, which is calculated according to the number of nautical miles travelled for delivery, with a rate of 4€ per nautical mile, and according to the number of days worked for charters, support and coaching.
As an example, here is a summary for a skipper and host.sse service by geographical area:
- France: 300€ / day skipper - 250€ / day host. sse,
- Caribbean: €240 / day skipper - €220 / day host. see,
- Spain: €250 / day skipper - €220 / day host.sse,
- Greece: €240 / day skipper - €220 / day host.sse...
These rates include Capt'n Boat's fee. This amount is then accepted or modified by the owner when creating the job.

To create a Job, go to your "Dashboard" and then proceed to create your Job:
1. Register your boat in the "My boats" tab
2. Once the boat has been registered, create an ad via the "My Ads" tab by clicking on the "New mission" button
3. Fill in all the information requested and then publish the Job.
For any service provided by a skipper via Capt'n Boat, the professional liability insurance contract is included. If it is a delivery service, a multirisk and damage policy is added.
Nothing! Capt'n Boat checks all seaman profiles to ensure that they have the correct and up-to-date qualifications. Once their profile has been checked, the regulatory algorithm set up in partnership with Stream, the law firm specialising in maritime law, ensures that only seaman with the right qualifications can apply for the assignment.
All you have to do is talk to the seaman to make sure that the profile fits you from a relational point of view, and according to your specific criteria (local seaman, pedagogue, speaking a particular language...)
To pay the seaman, simply register your bank details. The payment is debited and blocked on an escrow account at the time of booking. The seaman will receive the remuneration indicated in the mission sheet once the service has been completed.
